Bad news: I discovered an ulcer in my left eye on Monday morning, by tuesday it tripled in size.

Good news: I found a religion that will except me as the Pirate I may become.

"Created in 2005 by Oregon State physics graduate Bobby Henderson, it was originally intended as a satirical protest against the decision by the Kansas State Board of Education to permit the teaching of intelligent design as an alternative to evolution in public schools. In an open letter sent to the Kansas State Board of Education, Henderson parodied the concept of intelligent design by professing belief in a supernatural creator that closely resembles spaghetti and meatballs. Henderson further called for his "Pastafarian" (wordplay on Rastafarian) theory of creation to be allotted equal time in science classrooms alongside intelligent design and evolution. He explained that since the intelligent design movement uses ambiguous references to an unspecified "Intelligent Designer", any conceivable entity may fulfill that role, even a Flying Spaghetti Monster. After Henderson published the letter on his website, it rapidly became an Internet phenomenon and a symbol for the case against teaching intelligent design in public schools as well as religion in general."

Sooooo, when my new custom eye patch gets delivered I think I'll not only join the local chapter of Pastafarians but also become an official land pirate myself, and then be on the search for some booty, arrrrrrrrr!

But seriously folks, I'm interested in celebrating new holidays like Ramendan, Pastover, and International Talk Like a Pirate Day.

This looks like a cool app. One of our co-workers sent this out in an email. The app allows anyone that has the app to take credit card payments with Square's plug in device. It plugs directly into your headphone jack, synchs with the app and sends your payments to your bank. Looks like small business just got a lot easier.

autoCAD for the ipad & iphone

It's finally here, wooooooo, but the app needs work, awwwwww...

The marketing department of Kell Muñoz Architects already uses ipads and iphones in the field and for impromptu meeting/presentations with our clients.

First of all, having a desktop viewer app on my phone I can already open CAD/Revit from my iphone and manipulate the drawings, of course it's slow and kind of a pain in the a$$, but it works and there are many free versions of it.

I downloaded this new app to try it out and it works pretty damn well on my iphone. You can do all the basic commands with ease. When drawing a line it even gives you the length above the line and it snaps to polar.

10 bloodiest children's bed time stories

bloody hell

The list and the synopsis of the 'actual' bed time stories we were not actually told stoked an imagination I hadn't shaken up in a while. Dark, bloody and foreboding tales/fables. Amazing Disney created and entire empire out of americanizing the stories and turning them into cream-puff feel good movies.

The consideration to illustrate the stories in the truer form is something that should be done! I like the thought of Tim Burton redoing Hansel and Gretel, but not the Alice in Wonderland Disney style.

Hansel and Gretel write up suggested author/illustrator, Anthony Browne. I came across this gem Little Beauty while searching. Illustrations for Hansel and Gretel look awesome so I just bought 3 of his books. Definitely looking forward to stewing on these books when they arrive.

I've been exploring the world of visual aggregates and thought I would post a few that I have found in hopes of getting responses back to expand my gReader subscription feeds. A visual aggregate is basically a site that monitors other sites grabs their images and puts it in an easy to consume format. Most offer little to no explanations about the image but the lack of clutter keeps the randomness of the images legible. These shotgun blasts of information are great for inspiration and for motivation to complete projects. Below are a few links to some of the most interesting that I have found. aquarium drunkard

The Sketchbook Project

'It's like a concert tour but with sketchbook's" says the website tag line. Thanks to JKyle for sending this my way! What a cool idea for a tour. You can select a theme and the tour swings through Brooklyn, Atlanta, San Fran, Austin, Portland and Chicago. Books are cheap, you can get it scanned and lots of people can see your work and you can see theirs. You have to use their Blue/Red moleskine book but other than that it's pretty open ended as long as you do something in the book ...
