where the wild things are

UH WTF? Its release on film is imminent! cool. Spike Jones as the director is about to attempt to capture on film what I remember to be one of the most poetic, picturesque, and imagination provoking illustrated children's book ever.

  2. I don't think any other director could really do this book justice. I love how we get all stoked about nostalgic favorites given new life, but how realistic is it to make a big budget movie out of such small source material. I remember too fondly the horrible Dr.Seuss movies. After seeing the trailer though I am confident that this rendition will be kicking some serious ass.

  3. Spike Jones = bad ass. Pretty certain this film's theatrics will not disappoint. The same paradigm that Lord of Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, and now Where the Wild Things Are face, is that you, the viewer, watch somebody else's imagination manifest. Books allow the reader/listener to unfold the imagination to one's fullest potential - while the movie inserts everything for you. Which is a greater experience? It doesn't really matter - just depends on the viewer/reader. There was another book, perhaps by Sendak as well, could be some other children's author - they wrote an illustrated book with a shaggy haired dog, old lady, and it seemed like it was set during the night...anyone else remember this book? Would a Michel Gondry version of Good Night Moon be worthwhile?
